MONTEPULCIANO

Alan and Christine on the Tuesday chose to take a bus ride and visit Montepulciano, claimed as the highest of the Tuscan hill towns.  This cost them each 3.2 euros for the return trip (20 minutes each way) plus 0.90 euros for the local bus, which took them to the top of the town - so that most walking was then downhill. The town is wealthy from its wine industry, based on the famed “Vino Nobile”.
